LOCATED conveniently one block away from Old Louisville's
Central Park at 425 W. Ormsby,
The Mayflower afforded its
residents convenience to
downtown Fourth St. via trolley
service on Fourth.
THE NINE STORY, 100
UNIT APARTMENT COMPLEX was
originally completed to be
an extended-stay hotel and
remained so until the mid
1960's, when renovations
were completed and the building
became more of a long-term
stay apartment complex. Over
the years The Mayflower has
been renovated to keep up
with the times, but has managed
to retain its historic charm
and character.
PERHAPS THE MAYFLOWER'S MOST FAMOUS GUEST was President Harry
Truman, who stayed in The Mayflower's Presidential Suite in 1962 while campaigning
for Wilson Wyatt's bid for Governor of Kentucky. The Presidential Suite has since
been modified to a private residence in one half, while the other half is now
known as BUCK'S CIGAR ROOM. The Cigar Room is available for private parties or
for the enjoyment of cigars which may be arranged through Old Louisville's most
elegant restaurant "BUCK'S RESTAURANT", also located on the ground floor of
The Mayflower.
OVER THE YEARS, numerous
artists, scholars, musicians, and other creative people have called The Mayflower
home at one point or another. Today, that tradition proudly lives on in the heart
of historic Old Louisville as The Mayflower continues to draw an eclectic clientele
interested in the convenience of Old Louisville while residing in a building
full of architectural beauty and history.
